Before you adopt an animal

At the animal shelter in Allenwinden and dog shelter in Neuheim animals wait for new owners and new homes. Before you decide to adopt an animal, you should remember: animals are living beings – buying an animal is not like buying goods. Many people underestimate the task of owning pets and the consequence of inappropriate husbandry makes animals the victims: in the worst case, they are abandoned – in the best case they are found and taken to the animal shelter.

To help you decide whether owning a pet is right for you, we have compiled a questionnaire and the process to adopt a pet. You can download it here. If you have thought about everything thoroughly, please contact us. Once you have found your favorite, visit the animal several times at the shelter to build up mutual trust. As an independent information and advice center, we are committed to the welfare of animals and humans and are at your disposal at all times.

Please note: all animals that leave our shelter in Allenwinden are examined by our veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed, treated against flea infestation, chipped and registered with ANIS (Animal Identity Service AG).
